The 7th Jewish Film Festival opened at Zagreb's Europa cinema on Saturday evening, marking the beginning of Israeli Culture Week, which was opened by Ambassador Yosef Amrani and Mayor Milan Bandic.

During Israeli Culture Week, the magic of Israel will be presented to Zagreb's audience at various locations through Israeli film, dance, art, music and cuisine, Amrani said.

This is a gift to Zagreb and Croatia ahead of its accession to the European Union, where it has always belonged, he added.

The ambassador voiced hope that Israeli Culture Week would contribute to Zagreb's colorful atmosphere as well as to the culture of understanding, tolerance and respect for diversity.

Amrani recalled that this also marked 65 years of Israel's independence and that it was an opportunity to strengthen Croatian-Israeli cooperation in culture, the economy, education and science.
