The Croatian People's Party (HNS) on Thursday reacted to the different interpretations of the talks between the four parties of the Kukuriku coalition on the make-up of a new government, recalling that the coalition agreement signed before the parliamentary election stipulated that the candidates ratio was 1:4.6.

The election result shows that a ratio of 1:4.35 has been achieved, namely that the HNS would have 14 MPs and the Social Democratic Party 61, the HNS said in a statement, adding that this ratio had been applied to form the new government and that it would be applied to the four parties' share of the campaign costs.

The HNS said talks on the number of ministers each party of the coalition was entitled to were held in accordance with that ratio, in a friendly atmosphere, as the coalition partners fully understood the responsibility they assumed at the December 4 election.
