IAAF World Challenge meeting starts in Zagreb

Zagreb's IAAF World Challenge meeting began in the Croatian capital late on Tuesday afternoon with Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt, the fastest man in the world, Croatia's best athlete Blanka Vlasic and other world champions from the recent championships in Daegu, Korea, taking part in the meeting.

The audience of the overcrowded stadium "Mladost" warmly welcomed those stars and other participants in the 61th edition of this sport event.

Apart from Bolt, other world champions taking part in the Zagreb meeting are high jumper Anna Chicherova of Russia, Carmelita Jeter, an American sprinter and the world champion in the women's 100 metres, Australian Sally Pearson, the current world champion in the 100 metres hurdles and Jason Richardson who won the 110 metres hurdles world title in Daegu.

The men's 100-metre race is scheduled for 1955 hrs.
