The Croatian Army Battalion for Special Operations, based in the central town of Delnice, on Wednesday marked its 10th anniversary at a ceremony that was also attended by President Ivo Josipovic.

On September 8, 2000, the Centre for Special Combat Skills "Sepurine" and the 1st Guard Corps merged to form the Battalion for Special Operations, the most elite and best trained unit of the Croatian Army.

The unit is trained to perform combat operations on land, at sea and in the air. It participates in anti-terrorist operations, international military operations, search and rescue operations, reconnaissance operations, collection and processing of intelligence data, and in commando raids.
