As of today Croatia has begun charging cheaper prices for roaming services in mobile phone communications in line with European Union (EU) regulations which means that foreigners from EU countries who come to Croatia as well as Croatian users in other EU countries will pay much lower rates for mobile calls, text messages and data transfer than until now.

This refers to the European III Roaming Regulation (guests in other mobile networks) which came into force in the EU on July 1 last year.

The lower prices will be phased in in three stages and the first applies as of Monday, July 1, and if there are no amendments made to the EU regulation the second phase will be introduced on July 1, 2014.

As of today, under the decision, aligned with European Union regulations, the wholesale price of HT, Vipnet and Tele 2 mobile conversations will dip from 19.5 to 19.3 lipa per minute.

Because of the drop in roaming prices revenue from tourists visiting will certainly have a negative effect on the business of the biggest telecom operators in Croatia but they will honour the decision.
