Baš kao što su to učinili i s domaćim izdanjima u 2009. godini, 25 glazbenih kritičara i ljudi koji se profesionalno bave popularnom glazbom sastavili su svojih top 5 najboljih inozemnih izdanja u 2009. godini. Međutim, 25 ljudi, 25 ćudi i glazbenih ukusa, pa se doista svega par izdanja poklopilo s mišljenjem nekolicine, tako da prvih pet mjesta dijeli najmanje desetak albuma jer je najviše glasova (šest) dobio 'Backspacer' Parl Jama, slijede s po četiri glasa 'No Line On Te Horizon' – U2, 'The Eternal' – Sonic Youth, 'Farm' – Dinosaur Jr te s  po tri glasa 'It's Blitz' – Yeah Yeah Yeahs, 'Merriweather Post Pavilon' – Animal Collective, 'Years of Refusal' – Morrissey, ‘The Fall’ – Norah Jones, 'Working on a Dream' - Bruce Springsteen itd.
